I love live events. I love parties. This should come as no surprise to anyone. I went to college to become a certified event planner and then I built a concert production company all from the desire to turn my passion into a profession.
I retired at the end of 2017 and became a stay-at-home parent. People always ask me if I plan to go back and do it again. Sadly, my gut feeling has always been “NO”. But that’s not to say I will never plan an event again.
Perhaps it won’t be a stadium filling concert, but maybe I could focus on giving my kids birthday parties they will never forget. Or maybe I could incorporate this goal with my forth goal that I shared last week, and reprise that epic family Christmas I told you about. But then again, I don't want to duplicate that goal, I want this to be separate, so perhaps I need to find something else.
Liam has been obsessed with NFL football this year with me. He has found and developed a passion. But not only that, he is showing us some amazing talents! His memory is out of this world recalling specific scores from important games played weeks ago, and understanding how certain teams made (or didn’t make it) to Wild Card weekend. It’s been astounding! Anyway… he is so fired up for the playoffs, maybe we should throw a Super Bowl party. (He believes the Chiefs are going to win back to back championships by the way)
Maybe this summer I could throw or host a block party for neighbors in my community. Do it up right… put some time, thought and effort into it. Nothing pisses me off more, than when things are slapped together and we celebrate mediocrity. Or maybe it will be the cliché "we're finally allowed to gather again" party. Speaking of mediocrity, our city of Kelowna, BC has already agreed to fund a post-pandemic party with $50,000. I'm disappointed I'm no longer involved in events, because this would have been a fun one to produce... but you get the idea.
I've got an itch. I need to plan a party this year. I've got a few ideas as you can see, I just need to find the right time and pick the right one. The twelfth goal of my #2021Twenty is to plan a fun, memorable party.
